Bugle Magazine
PAY: $.20/word
We have experienced a growing interest in our Women in the Outdoors column, from women and men, since its inception in 1995. Letters show us that readers enjoy stories and essays about women’s experiences afield. So we are always on the hunt for new tales and new voices. We are looking for personal essays and stories, 1,000 to 3,000 words in length, concerning elk, hunting, wildlife encounters, conservation and land-use issues. We are especially interested in thought-provoking stories and essays: personal narratives that evoke emotion and suggest connections to larger themes or ask (or attempt to answer) questions that touch the human heart.

Field and Stream
PAY: $100 - $1000+
Writers are encouraged to submit queries on article ideas. These should be no more than a page, and should include a summary of the idea, including the angle you will hang the story on, and a sense of what makes this piece different from all others on the same or a similar subject. Many queries are turned down because we have no idea what the writer is getting at. Be sure that your letter is absolutely clear. We've found that if you can't sum up the point of the article in a sentence or two, the article doesn't have a point. Pieces that depend on writing style, such as humor, mood, and nostalgia or essays often can't be queried and may be submitted in manuscript form. The same is true of short tips. All submissions to FIELD & STREAM are on an on-spec basis.

Copywriter( Talent Zoo-United States)
From Career JournalWe’ve got a great opportunity for a copywriter with chops: jump into the most decorated, buzzed-about advertising agency in Forbes’s #1 small metropolitan city — and make some creative waves. “Chops” means not only do you have a tireless creative mind, you have great analytical, presentation and collaborative skills. You suspend judgment and explore new places. But you make your ideas work for clients who have real business rocks to break. And of course you can write – real good. We’re not talking about just impressing yourself: we’re talking about work that changes people and businesses. That’s a lot of responsibility, and it may not be right for you. But if you get it and can bring some field-tested voodoo to the party, we want to talk. At Breukelman Kubista Group, you get breakfast once a week, a close-knit team of the top creative and business talent in the region, thick coffee and a joke about Old Man McGuinty. The traditional agency crap does not apply here. BKG trades bureaucracy and ego for a flat personnel structure, strong mutual respect and an intense hunger to grow. We welcome humility. So, if you’ve been around the block and have the book to prove it, have an unrelenting passion for the work, live for the tough stuff and are willing to make a permanent commitment to both BKG and Sioux Falls, we’ll do great things together. In its six years on the scene, BKG has grown exponentially, helping clients from fire truck manufacturers to packaged food producers achieve breakthrough success. The right candidate will get a piece of this action in a town where people leave their homes unlocked and their car keys in the ignition. Life is good here — and better with you in it. To inquire, send resume to: jobs@b-k-g.com. No freelance offers,

Arthritis Today
PAY: not listed
A bimonthly publication with a special seventh Buyers Guide issue published in the fall. We have a circulation of 650,000 and a readership of 3.1 million. Arthritis is a general term that describes more than 100 diseases and related conditions. All have some musculoskeletal involvement. The most common form of arthritis affects only the joints, but some forms of arthritis are systemic, meaning they are autoimmune disorders that threaten multiple internal systems and organs in addition to affecting the joints. Arthritis is not an old person's disease. It can happen at any age. Arthritis Today is written for all people with arthritis, including all ages and every form of arthritis, but our primary focus is on baby boomers, ages 45 to 65, who have osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus, gout, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis or osteoporosis. It is difficult for a writer who doesn't understand our audience or who is not familiar with arthritis to successfully write for Arthritis Today.
LinkThe New PhysicianPAY: $.25 - $.40/word
Is read by almost 40,000 future physicians (premedical and medical students), residents, educators and others interested in the social, ethical and political issues facing medical education and health care. The New Physician is the magazine of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), an independent, progressive group of premeds, medical students and residents. We seek stories that raise critical questions about medical education and medicine. We are not a "house organ"; nor are we Medical Economics. Our goal is to expose readers to issues that may be overlooked by more traditional medical journals. Generally, we do not use features on clinical topics.
