Article Submission - How Fast Are You?
by: Steve Gillman

Is it really important how fast you do the article submission process? It may not be if you are just going to submit an article or two and leave it at that. However, if you plan to use articles as a regular part of your marketing plan for your website, it becomes very important.

When I wrote an article to promote one of my web sites for the first time, it took me hours. The article submission process took another hour - for just one article directory! Most articles now take me less than an hour to write. Almost every morning I submit an article to a dozen directories, and this takes me just fifteen minutes.

Does speed matter? Consider that in the last twelve months I've written and submitted 300 articles to directories (don't worry - you don't need to write this much to effectively promote your sites). Now suppose I took twelve minutes for each directory submission, instead of the 75 seconds I average now. That's 525 hours extra in the last year, or 17 of my 30-hour work weeks!

Efficient Article Submission

It's not about rushing or typing fast. Just develop a simple process or system for anything that you repeatedly do. A simple process makes article submission more relaxing, not less so.

Write your articles in a Windows Notepad file or any simple word processing program. Have a systematic way to format everything - one that works for you - and stick with it. In my files, I have the author's resource boxes prepared and copied many times, waiting for the addition of the articles. Of course they can be modified for an article, but this is quicker than writing a new one each time. I also keep a separate file of articles for each website.

When I write an article, I copy and paste it into the file again, adding bold tags or italics or heading tags as necessary to the first version. This way I have a version ready for the directories that accept HTML and those that don't. Each article also has a two sentence description and a list of keywords, ready to copy and paste into the submission forms.

I keep a numbered list of directories I submit to - with the URL of the submission page ready to be copied and pasted into the browser to speed things along. I write the article titles on a list. As I submit them I jot down the number of the article directory. Sometimes directories have technical problems for a day or a month. With my simple tracking list, I can go back later to submit the article to those that were missed.

You have to open and close (expand and minimize) files repeatedly as you fill in the submission forms. To save time on forms that require my name, I copy the title and name together, paste it into the "title" box on the form, then cut the name and paste it into the appropriate box. This will make more sense once you try it - it means opening and close the file one less time.

I paste the article description and the keywords into the form, if that article directory requires these, then I copy the article body along the resource box. After pasting the article into the form, I cut out the resource box and paste it into the appropriate box. Again, this is to open and close the file one less time. Use any little tricks that work for you to speed things up.

You may have an auto-fill feature on your browser, or you can get one. Use it. When forms asking for name, email, or anything else are highlighted yellow, you can usually fill them in with these tools. At directories requiring my name and email address, I just click my auto-fill button, and those fields are filled in for me. I use this tool dozens of times daily, saving me a lot of typing.

You should also get a keyboard with "cut," "copy" and "paste" buttons. These are much faster than navigating up to "edit," finding "copy," then opening it again to use the "paste" function. This little feature has saved me twenty hours of work in the last year alone - well worth the small price.

I speed up the process in may other ways too, but there is no reason you have to do it the way I do. The important point is to spend more time writing good articles than submitting them. That is why it's important to develop some system for efficient article submission.

Powerful Article Writing Strategies for Exploding Traffic and Link Popularity.
by: Kanaga Siva

One of the most discussed topics today is Article Writing. Many Webmasters are jumping into the bandwagon and are trying to revive and reinvent their old writing talents to good measure.

It is a known fact that there are several benefits in article writing and submitting articles to article directories but the main objective of most webmasters is to obtain one way links, thereby increasing Link Popularity and to generate Targeted Traffic.

Success is much easier to achieve when tried and tested strategies are adopted.

Given below are such strategies, if adopted will have a tremendous impact in Boosting your link popularity and Exploding Traffic to your website.

1. TOPIC.

In article writing the most important thing is to choose the right Topic. Though you might be very knowledgeable in sports it makes no sense writing an article on sports if the theme of your website is Home Based Business. Choose a topic related to the theme of your website. If you find it difficult to choose a topic, then visit some of the Forums and see what popular topics are being discussed and select one related to your Home Based Business theme.

2. TITLE

Have a Powerful Killer or Catchy Title that will immediately grab the attention of the Audience. Success or Failure of your article is to a great extent dependent on your title. It is worth spending quite some time over this very important aspect.

3. INTRODUCTION.

The Introduction has to be very Compelling. So write an Introduction that is Concise Powerful and Absorbing. It should be such that the reader would want to continue reading the article right up to your Resource Box.

4. CONTENT.

Good Content is what the reader is interested in. Keep in mind the popular saying "Content is King". Your article should be of high quality, Thought provoking, Informative, Precise and Accurate. Articles written sincerely from the heart are greatly appreciated and accepted by the audience because they realize that you are trying to be helpful and before long a rapport is established between you and the audience.

5. KEYWORDS.

Key Words play a very significant role in article writing. The awareness and success of your articles is greatly dependent on your key words and where you place them. The keywords should be judiciously placed in the Title of your article, in the Introduction paragraph, in the Concluding paragraph and in the main Body of the article. It should not interrupt the flow of the article, be excessive and be seen as keyword stuffing.

6. RESOURCE BOX.

One of the main purposes of article writing is to obtain a one way link and generate traffic to your site. For this the Resource Box is of utmost importance. Place a resource box at the end of the article with a very brief description of yourself or your product along with your name and URL. Double check your URL since this is your life line for both your link and traffic.

7. ARTICLE SUBMISSION.

Having written a good article you now have to submit your article to various article directories and submission sites. All of them have their own submission rules. It is important that you study them before submitting your article. Failure to do so will mean that your article may not get published and all your efforts will be in vain.

That's it. Follow this strategy in your article writing and you are assured of a surge of traffic and increased link popularity. In addition you will soon be accepted as an authority and expert in your field. Isn't it wonderful!

Build A Better Body
by: Deanna Mascle

As both a writer and writing instructor I often taught the importance of introductions and conclusions; however, it does not do to overlook the body of your article or essay. After all, no matter how intriguing your introduction or how compelling your conclusion is, if the body of your essay falls flat then you will have failed as a writer.

Creating a powerful and effective body for your essay or article is not challenging if you plan carefully, write meaningfully, and revise repeatedly. In fact, if you plan carefully and write meaningfully then you may not have to revise very much, but you should still allow time just in case.

Planning carefully means spending time to brainstorm and mull over the ideas and elements you would like to cover in the body of your essay or article. What topic do you plan to write about? Ask yourself an important question related to that topic and your answer to that question will often become the basis for your thesis statement -- or quite simply the point you are trying to make with this essay or article.

Now that you have identified your main point, or thesis, you can begin to build on this foundation. You must now make a list of three, four or five (although I prefer to use three or five for some odd reason) points you can make to expand or support this main point or thesis.

For example, perhaps you plan to write an essay about why writing is a rewarding career path. So you could make your thesis: Writing is a rewarding career path because it offers professional rewards, financial rewards, and personal rewards.

Now your challenge is to build the body of your essay or article with these topics in mind. If you are writing a short piece then you can simply write one or two paragraphs on each of these three points: professional, financial, and personal rewards. If you are writing a longer piece then you will write a section focused on those three points. In order to develop each section you could then brainstorm three points to make about each of these topics.

For example, writing can help you professionally by serving as a profession in itself, by furthering most other professional fields, and by furthering your education, could all be topics you could explore within the "professional" writing section.

Spending time before you write to brainstorm, plan and craft a solid thesis can help you with your writing and a clear thesis can also help your reader understand what you are writing.

Building a better body for your essay and article does not have to be difficult or challenging, but spending time to plan and execute the body of your piece can make a substantial difference in the outcome of your writing.

Daily Writing Tip:
--------------------

I Hate Writing Articles - Isn't There An Easier Way?!
by: Carina Ljungqvist

The more you understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this article you'll find that the subject of Article-writing is certainly no exception.

If you find yourself confused by what you've read to this point, don't despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.

Owning, running and maintaining an internet based business or a site needs articles. Plain and simple, every one who has a site knows this. Even those who don’t have sites but are frequent internet users knows this as well. Articles quench the thirst for information and knowledge of the people. Plus, the articles provide many other benefits for the site.

The benefits that articles provide are putting a site high in the ranking in search results of keywords and keyword phrases that pertains or are relevant to his or her site. They also provide attraction to website visitors when they are appreciated and is linked to your site from another site or newsletter. Articles provide for the increase of the confidence and trust levels of customers to your site and company.

Many articles are also beneficial to both company and its traffic. When the readers like the articles, they would tell more of their friends, family and peers and recommend your site to them, providing for a larger volume of traffic. You get bigger sales if your traffic trusts and believes in you. Your product or services would be much easier to sell when they know you know what you are doing and talking about.

So ok, we have established that articles are very important to a site and to business. Articles are crucial and to keep ahead in the game, a site must have an article, it is imperative. There is one dilemma though, not many people like writing articles.

Many website owners would rather spend their time on something else, and unless you’re a big time company, you don’t have the necessary resources to use on a pool of article writers. Plagiarism or copying of other articles is frowned upon and could easily get you into trouble, worst case scenario; a hefty fine and jail time.

So what are the other options?

Well, for starters if you hate writing articles and you can’t afford to hire people to write for you then don’t. Get free articles. The first place to look at for free articles is the public domain. Here you won’t have problems with copyright infringement and the following penalties and fines if you get caught for plagiarism.

Public domain articles are articles freely given to the public for public use. You can do whatever you want with it. You can place it on your site, name it as yours, put it in a newsletter it’s your decision. Always remember though that you will have to choose articles that are very relevant to your site.

The downside to public domain articles is that since it is free for everybody, many of your competitors may have access to them as well. Since every site needs to be original and unique even though you have the same niche, this could be a predicament. You may also have to edit them a bit to place more keywords and keyword phrases to make them better.

Another way to get free articles is to allow other sites which have the same subject or topic as yours to submit articles to your site. This would be only to augment your existing content or else all your articles would be leading to other sites since these articles would have resource boxes with them that could link or direct the readers to their site. That’s why it is important to have your own articles; you cold use them to link your site to other sites as well.

But, to truly feel the impact of what a good article to you, go for original ones. There are many article writers who do part time and freelance article writing jobs that charges only minimal fees. You can get good articles that have all the keywords and keyword phrases you need and people are looking for.

The investment you made for these articles would be worthwhile because you could use them for all the benefits you could offer. You hold copyrights to them and you will be able to use them anyway you want. As your articles help you in building your business and your site, you will have more articles to write and maybe then you won’t be having second thoughts about articles.

So now you know a little bit about Article-writing. Even if you don't know everything, you've done something worthwhile: you've expanded your knowledge.

This writing tip Sent for posting on Freelance Steps from the talented freelance writer Steve Amoia.

Selected Quotes from Ernest Hemingway on Writing, edited by Larry W. Phillips.
by Steve Amoia

While few of us will ever reach the brilliance of Mr. Hemingway, some of his advice might provide an intriguing perspective from one of most gifted writers in the English language. I have selected a few of his most salient observations about the craft of writing. The book itself, which was expertly edited and organized by Mr. Larry W. Phillips, is available from Amazon.com.

One interesting fact about Mr. Hemingway might surprise us. He never went to college. So the next time a client/employer says, "English or another pertinent degree required for this position," you may desire to gently remind them that with those criteria, they could not hire Ernest Hemingway. :-)

"Writing is something that you can never do as well as it can be done. It is a perpetual challenge and it is more difficult than anything else that I have ever done."

"There's no rule on how it is to write. Sometimes it comes easily and perfectly. Sometimes it is like drilling rock and then blasting it out with charges."

"Ordinarily I never read anything before I write in the morning to try and bite on the old nail with no help, no influence and no one giving you a wonderful example or sitting looking over your shoulder."

"Whatever success that I have had has been through writing what I know about."

"You see I'm trying in all my stories to get the feeling of the actual life across, not just to depict life, or criticize it, but to actually make it alive."

"Charlie's (Scribner's) ridiculing of my daily word count was because he did not understand me or writing well nor could know how happy one felt to have put down properly 422 words as you wanted them to be. And days of 1200 or 2700 were something that made you happier than you could believe. Since I found that 400 to 600 well done was a pace I could hold much better was always happy with that number. But if I only had 320 I felt good."

"I think you should learn about writing from everybody who has ever written that has anything to teach you."

"I hold very simply, that a critic has a right to write anything he wishes about your work no matter how wrong he may be. I also hold that a critic has no right to write about your private life while you are alive."

Tips On How To Write A Simple Article
by: Morgan Hamilton

How to write a simple article? Most likely there are as many different opinions about this as there are authors, but it is enough to say that with the everlasting popularity of publications on the internet, it is safe to begin with learning how to write an online article.

How to write a simple article

As there are hundreds of strict rules and strategies for writing an article full of keywords, I’d like to save you some time and effort and a possible headache too, and to teach you how to write a simple piece for online publication, an article which is included in an online database. For instance, this might be a database that accepts as well as offers its readers free articles. Furthermore, I’d like to concentrate mainly on the style or type of publication which is easiest to reach and most interesting and enjoyable to read.

It is important to know that the great majority of websites have a general topic or concern. Suppose you are going to write an article for a firm which is specialized in designing kitchen cabinets. The above-mentioned firm required ten publications to start. (Keep in mind that this is only a hypothetical situation; most sites have a database of more than 300 articles). I suppose many of us have previous experience in writing assignments in their college classes, for example a paper which is supposed to be 10 pages long on anything related to California history. It is almost the same as far as writing online articles in concerned; the web master will require ten articles about kitchen cabinets. And then you have to leave your imagination and invention work.

Go to your kitchen and carefully examine the cupboards. How many synonyms of cabinet can you think of? How these cupboards are made, what are they made of and how many parts do they have? Do you know all the kinds of materials that are used in building a cupboard? When was the oldest cabinet you’ve seen built? ( few days ago I came across one which was used in a pharmacy and was made of steel and glass, it was from the early 1920’s ). Thus, if you are a beginner at writing articles about cabinets, you could think about the types, styles, designs and materials. Here are some pieces of advice you can follow and write a couple of paragraphs choosing your own approach from one of the mentioned below.

* Define all the terms and specialized words used in cabinetry. The best way to help a potential buyer, a user or even apprentice carpenter is to include a glossary in your article.

* Make an easily readable bulleted list covering all the facts and details related to the topic

* Do a Survey – write an article about the history of the topic you’ve chosen, whether it would be a person, a place, an event or a concept

* Be sensitive about the format – using different style and font variations will help the reader distinguish the different parts of the article

Further, knowing how to write a piece of publication includes setting the right purposes: show the readers how to select, build, buy, clean, install, etc. the item you write about.

Some of the popular formats that you might want to use are listed below:

The Q and A – put some questions and then finds the best answers

The Narrative – people love stories, especially well-written ones

Try Quotes and Trivia – if you find it appropriate you can put some quotes in your article because quotes are as exciting as tales and discussions of trials and tribulations and success—with the item you are describing.

This should be a good base on which you build your article. It is a good idea to start with a website of your own, that way you would see how good is your work. Else, you could write publications for a friend of yours. What really matters in writing simple articles is to be experienced, so just get down to practicing. While working, try to enjoy it.

How to Write Better Editorial Articles
by: Brian Konradt

Writing an editorial article may be one of the most satisfying forms of writing, especially for journalists trained to be objective at all costs. An editorial article can be about anything and from any standpoint. As long as you have an opinion and can support it with facts, you have the makings of an interesting piece.

We all have opinions, right? Yet not all of us are editorial writers and not all editorials are worth reading. What exactly makes an editorial article good -- and how do you write one?

KNOW YOUR THESIS

Too many people begin writing their topic with only a vague sense of opinion, never honing, or refining, that opinion into something sharp and distinctive. Be sure to have a solid grasp of what you’re arguing and why you’re arguing. Think about your topic and why you’ve chosen it first. What elements of the argument call to you? What angers or pleases you about this issue? Keep these things in mind as you begin to write.

MINE THE DATA

An editorial is only as good as its facts. Sure, you may think the death penalty is wrong and worthy of outlaw, but without backing it up with data, you have nothing but a half-formed opinion. Get the backstory, understand your argument inside-out. Research every aspect of your topic and cite as many facts as possible; generalities are the death of interesting editorials.

CONSIDER THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED

Don’t pigeonhole yourself into writing from majority’s opinion just because you can make easy arguments. Think long and hard about your position on the chosen issue and write from the standpoint that makes the most sense to you. Never, ever, ever compromise your beliefs for the sake of a byline.

AVOID HYPERBOLE

Sure, exaggerating slightly is expected during a heated face-to-face, but hyperbole has no place in a well-written editorial. You can rarely back up statements such as “always” and “never” with factual data, so stay away from them unless the hyperbole has a definite, and obvious, literary purpose. Typically, including these words will make your editorial prone to justifiable, and often fatal, criticism.

UNDERSTAND THE OPPOSITION

The only way to create a fully formed editorial with tons of depth and poignancy is to understand what the other side is arguing. Research opposing viewpoints with the same voracious energy as the ones with which you line up. Take the time to understand what the other side is arguing and why; after all, you can only combat a particular argument if you know exactly what that argument is.

Article Writing: 10 Reasons Why The Discipline Is Necessary For Any Internet Marketer
by: Mary Murtha
The hardest part about writing, is getting one’s self to actually start writing. Most writers usually hate to write but love it when they have finished writing. To be able to escape this process, what some writers do is procrastinate.
Having this attitude really does not get anything done. One of the basic reason why some think this way is because they are afraid to fail. They also put tremendous pressure upon themselves, thinking that whatever writing that they should do and produce must be brilliant.
The fact of the matter is that no writer, or person for that matter, is perfect. Everyone has flaws and having imperfections is the perfect reason why more writing should be done.
Discipline is important. Without this, nothing will get done or will get written. Having discipline causes any writer, especially those who write articles for the internet, to think clearly and go beyond his or her mundane concerns. When one has discipline, the focus is on the output and not on the ego.
Discipline serves as a guide
Having discipline enables anyone to think in a lucid manner. It also helps in coming up of ways to present the details and facts of an article. A disciplined mind gets things done easily.
Using a guide in numbering the characters that should be present on each line of a given article is an easy and controlled way to limit as well as define what it is to write about and how.
Observe how doing this and setting a limit to one’s self actually helps the writer compose the article thereby avoiding awkward breaks in each sentence. When this is done, readability of the article is achieved as well as the topic at hand becomes a whole lot clearer.
Discipline helps achieve focus
There are a million things to write about as well as there are a million things to say. Having discipline makes it a lot easier to select a particular idea or subject. A general issue could still be broken down in sub topics and start from there.
The words to be used for such an article must also be appropriate to the kind of reader targeted. Once this is decided upon, selecting the appropriate mood, be it serious, funny, etc. would be a lot easier.
Having discipline makes it easier to break a topic down
If it is simply too overwhelming to write an article in one get up and go fashion, the only solution is – don’t write it.
Discipline yourself to think of the article in easy and convenient small chunks. Take each idea as one paragraph. Then think of another idea in terms of another paragraph. Then, make a simple outline of the article as well as the issues and topics that will cover it.
Discipline yourself to just let go
Writing is a process. It is best that writing be not forced. Such an attitude produces an article that is stiff, unreadable and – most likely – unlikable.
Discipline yourself to just write
A lot of things could crop up inside one’s head about the article one is intending to write.
It is easy to be distracted about other topics that could be included in the article, or other issues, as well as other subtopics.
It is best that one should just stick to the current topic at hand. Topics or issues that are off the main points must be avoided.
Remember that the objective is to write, complete and finish the article. Entertaining any and all forms of distractions will not be helpful.
Be disciplined to not edit --- at least not yet
In any first drafts, the key to writing completely is to let the ideas just flow. Editing must and will have to come at a later part. Editing is not part of the writing process, at least in this stage where thoughts really just have to flow, so let it.
Be disciplined to re-read and review the article
After the writing is complete, this is the perfect and best time to start reading it as well as reviewing it. First time drafts must be proofread. This is also the best time to start editing.
Check and find out which parts seem to lag. Is there any weak idea that needs backing up? Are there no spelling errors in the article? Are there any errors in grammar? Such mistakes must be paid attention to as it could distract the readers from the idea and point of the article.
Discipline yourself to relax
After writing, let the article stand or sit on its own. Get up and eat, sleep, read, watch television or simply get out.
Make sure that you spend at least a day letting the article breath.
Discipline yourself to re-write
Getting back to the article after a considerable amount of time away from it enables anyone to look at it with fresh eyes.
Check the title. Review if the sentences are complete thoughts. Delete or re-write what needs to be edted or re-written.
Well-written articles should be satisfying and not leave readers wanting to have more.
Discipline yourself to make the article known
After all is said, written and done, it is now time to send the article out. Readers should be appropriately advised where the article came from, who wrote it or if there is any link related to the article and its source.
In summary, discipline helps anyone, especially in writing, start and finish a task with a process that is methodical and one that actually works. All one needs is discipline to carry it through.

The Stink-Eye Press Wants You!

A brand new online literary magazine is seeking submissions for its first issue. Short stories, poetry, and essays are all being sought.

I have no money myself, so I can't pay you, but if you have a craving deep within yourself to tell the world, "I had a story/poem/essay/picture of my butt published by The Stink-Eye Press," then send something in. I'm especially interested in experimental pieces that don't quite fit the bounds of how fiction, poetry, etc. are typically defined. If Italo Calvino's "Six Memos for the Next Millenium" said anything to you, then you may have something we can really work with. But overall, if it's well-done, I'd love to read it.

For a little extra info, read here: http://www.stinkeyepress.org/?page_id=2. I'm still tinkering around with the design!

Bothering....

Hi,

I know blogs and websites are not the right place to solve our problems but today is an exception because yesterday writersweekly crossed all the red lines after She reviled me and my blog with her lies "freelance steps steals copyrighted material and posts it without permission " so I decided to clear my side not for her ( I don't care about her opinions ) but for you because it's my right to explain and your right to judge.

I want to ask one question who said that the job ad is a part of a copyright law ,I searched over and over but results was a big zero so if any one of you has a copy of job ads copywrite please send it to me . I like to read about this issue .

One more thing ; what's the difference between the following situations :

  • copying the link of the ad from other sites without permission. (like she did)
  • copying the link of the ad and few lines from the ad without permission (like most of the employment sites)
  • copying the link of the ad and a full copy of the ad without permission.

I believed that the three situations are the same if we are talking about permissions ,actually it's impossible to take a permission for each job ad from the sites you take your list from ,I'm sure that no body could do that including her .

Finally I hope the picture is clear now ,and sorry for wasting your time but really it hurts my feelings deeply ,and it's my first time to know that working hard is a crime I have to pay for it every day .

Thank you again and have a nice day

How To Write A Great Article
by: Lori Osterberg

Content is king. If you’ve been online any length of time, you’ve seen the phrase, “content is king” everywhere.

But understanding what content is, and how to continually add content to your site is a full time job for many businesses.

One of the best ways to grow the content of your site is by adding useful articles to your resources. Articles are typically rich content that pertains to one or two keywords. An article is typically between 250-750 words in length. And the best thing about an article is it can be promoted not just on your site, but can also be picked up by article directories, other websites, and ezine editors looking for quality information for their subscribers.

The hardest part of adding an article to your site is often times the writing. Where do you come up with your ideas for new articles? Here are five tips on how to find articles that will be informative for your target audience.

1. What is the top news feature in your industry? If you follow trade journals, (and you should) you can always find one or two topics that everyone is writing about. Pick up on that thought, and write an article in your own words.

2. What questions do your clients and prospects ask you over and over again? Common questions can make motivating articles because they answer a question everyone wants more information on.

3. How can you relate your industry to a seasonal event? If you’re a plumber, writing an article on preparing your pipes for the deep-freeze of winter can be much needed. Likewise, an article on planting shade-loving plants would be a perfect addition to a greenhouses website.

4. Follow your newspaper for current events. Every day, around the world, there are events that you can use to base an article off of. Think back to the first 2 ½ months of 2006 – you could write articles based on the Olympics, Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day, Presidents Day, winter, snow, hurricanes and tornados. A personal trainer could write an article about how it doesn’t take an Olympian to stay fit. A health spa could write an article on preparing for the spring thaw, and looking your best in your new spring wardrobe. And so on.

5. Still can’t think of anything? Hire someone else to write articles for you. A copywriter can write several articles for you in a short period of time. If you have a dozen or so written, you can have a several months supply of high quality content, ready to share on your site, and with others throughout the Internet.

You have valuable information. Find a way to share what you know with your customers and prospects. You’ll show your expertise; they’ll reward you by becoming your customers.

Writing A Press Release
by: Kanicen Nichathavan

The word Press Release seems to scare most people to death. On top of that not many people take the time to even think of writing their own Press Release. We hope this brief article will help clear up some of the mysteries surrounding this simple form of marketing.

The first thing you have to remember is that a Press Release is a news item. It needs to inform people, NOT sell them something. For example, you are reading this report because you want to learn something that will benefit you. You are not reading it just so you can buy something else. If money is the deriving force in your business you would not go too far. Your main goals should be in pleasing customers, providing them with a high quality product and more than their moneys worth. The trick is to do all this while still making money. People do not care what mountains you had to climb, what seas you had to cross or what tribe of people you had to learn the ways of just to find a secret formula. Instead they want to know what the secret formula is.

The sales circulars you print and mail sell your product. A Press Release informs others about your product. Instead of your main objective being to sell the product and have the customer send in an order immediately, a Press Release informs the customer exactly how your product will benefit their lives. This must be conveyed in the form of a newsworthy Press Release. If you have a sales circular to sell a product, you can easily turn it into a Press Release without much difficulty. It is just a new marketing angle of presenting your product to the public.

The following is an example of a typical Press Release for our publishing services: So many people are entering the mail order market these days, but so many of them are getting ripped off by a bunch of hype. People are promised untold riches in a short period of time. The hype ads play with their emotions by making them believe it is so easy to make money through the mail. It is sad.

However, a new book has just been released to help solve these problems for the average person. For the first time in history a real directory has been compiled listing the actual name and addresses of 179 honest and trustworthy mail order folks. People can write directly to these people and receive free information to get them started in their own business now.

It is unbelievable. Without trying to sell you anything else, you can get this book for only $4.95 a price anyone can afford. Meet the real mail order dealers who are about their products and want to help you get started doing what they are doing.

Only available from Graphic Publishing, PO Box 488, Bluff City TN 37618.As you can see, this is a short but sweet Press Release however, you should be able to see the newsworthiness in it. Its main focus is on the fact that most people get ripped off when they start their first mail order business. The solution to this problem is a new directory that is available for the first time in history. The sell is slowly led into because the reader will naturally want to get their hands on this one. It does not ask for money it only tells the reader how to get a copy if they want one.

Here is a great test for a real press release. Since your final sales pitch is included in the last paragraph read the Press Release aloud. Would it still be worth reading without your sales pitch? If so, it is probably a Press Release.

Press Releases come in many forms due to the product you are writing about. However, the basic rule of thumb still applies. If you have never wrote one before it may be a little difficult. Do not despair. Grab the latest daily newspaper and read some of their informational articles. Notice how each article is written and pattern yours after the same format. After you do a few of them – you will be able to get the picture.

When your Press Release is written to your satisfaction, the proper way to submit it to a publisher is: Be sure and type it on a typewriter or computer. Standard format is doubling spaced and not longer than two 8 1/2x11 pages. Be sure and put your name, address and page number at the top of each page.

Write the note for immediate release at the top. If you are only sending the press release to one publication tell them it is a first run.

Regards,

Daily Writing Tip:

Three Things You Can Try If You Have Article Writers Block
by: Chris Le Roy

Writing can be one of the most challenging skills you can ever master. Some people find writing incredibly easy whilst others will sit for days just to push out one single article. One of the challenges all writers will face at some time is writers block. Essentially writers block occurs when the words you are trying to articulate just do not come out in the manner you wish. In some cases you may find, during writers block that you have no inspiration to write an article or do not know how to start it.

Writers block for me usually occurs when I am stressed and overworked so there are three things I recommend you try to break out of a case of writers block.

Item #1 – List Points and Write A Paragraph on the Points

When I am really challenged at writing an article I will go back to the basics. First of all I will write my heading which simply defines what I am writing about. The next step I follow is to write simple list points on what I want to cover in my article. For example in this article I wanted to give you three tips on how to over come writers block. I simply wrote them as –

Item 1. List Points and Write A Paragraph on The Points
Item 2. Meditation
Item 3. Listen to Music

Most web articles need to be a minimum of 600 words for article directories to accept them so by simply writing two or three paragraphs for each item, it will not take long to meet the criteria of 600 words.
Using this technique makes creating articles like, Seven Tips to … Four Strategies for etc really simple. By listing the items you want to share and writing a paragraph or two for each item you will easily and quickly create your article.
Finally, to complete your article simply write a lead in paragraph to the first item and a lead out paragraph after the last item to conclude your article and before you know it, you will have another fully written article.

Item #2 – Meditate

Whenever I find it really difficult to write I simply go and do a good 20 minutes of meditation. What you will find is that when you meditate, if you are doing it correctly, it should help you to clear your mind and to bring you to focus. The objective of meditation is to take the chaos we go through every single day, and to move the chaos into some form of order. Once you achieve this you will then be able to reflect on your inner self and find peace.
Okay, I can hear it now, "Oh Yeah Hippy, Want Us to Meditate do ya?" Absolutely! Look whilst meditation has certainly been a thing of fringe groups in western society or associated with eastern religions many researchers are now coming to the distinct conclusion that meditation can make a huge difference to our day-to-day lives and helps us to overcome stress and in particular writers block.
The core advantage meditation will play in your life is to help you to relax and deal with challenging situations more effectively. The more relaxed you are the more creative you can be in dealing with your creative issues. I certainly recommend that when you are meditating, that you use baroque music with your meditation as it will help increase the alpha waves which will help lead you to a calm feeling. This is especially useful if you do not have a long period to meditate. I recommend a 20 minute meditation session at least once a day preferably two. You will be really surprised the difference it makes to your day. Just try it out, you have nothing to loose and a few hundred articles to gain.
Personally I find after a good meditation session I can pump out five to ten articles which I think is a great way to get ahead.
Item #3 – Listen to Music

Listening to music is a great way to beat writers block however, be warned, some music can in fact make your writers block worse. The sort of music you should be listening to is Baroque Music at 60 beats per minute. Research has shown that this type of music actually releases alpha waves in both our left and right sides of our brains. In doing this, it helps us to fell calm, similar to whistling a happy tune.
The “Alpha” state of mind is ideal for developing articles as it heightens creativity and learning. Many of my colleagues use Baroque music in their memory learning seminars specifically because Baroque Music heightens the learning and creativity parts of the brain.
Writers block can be one of the great challenges you will have to face at some stage in your writing career. These three items I have listed above have helped me breeze through a writers block saga and ensure that I can effectively continue to do the work I enjoy. Just to finish off I want to reiterate the three things I recommend you try if you are suffering writers block:

Item #1 – List Points and Write A Paragraph on the Points
Item #2 – Meditate
Item #3 – Listen to Music

Freelance Writing: Write An Article A Day To Boost Your Career
by: Angela Booth

Want to boost your freelance writing career to a whole new level? You can, with the "article a day" technique. Just write an article a day, of around 400 to 800 words, every day for a week. Not only does this give you a swag of material you can sell, it also takes your writing skills to a new level.
I've been recommending this technique to my writing students for years, so I know it works. The primary reason it works is because writing is a skill that you get better at with practice, and writing consistently to a certain level builds your writing muscles. Writing requires the interaction of various parts of your brain. This interaction isn't developed without practice, nor does the interaction stay constant unless you consistently practice.
Try writing an "article a day" for seven days. At the end of the seven days you will be a better writer. You'll write much more easily too because this technique primes your idea pump. I guarantee that when you're working on one article, you'll get ideas for three others.
How long should your articles be?
Aim for a reasonable length: around 600 to 800 words is good, but shorty articles of 250 to 500 words work too.
If you want a quick formula to follow to write your articles, try the BEST formula.
The BEST formula
The BEST formula is an easy way to remember basic article structure. I discovered it in June Duncan Owen's book How To Write And Sell Articles, and I've been forever grateful, because it makes writing articles easy.
BEST is an acronym for:
B -- Bait
E -- Explanation
S -- Step
T --- Termination
The BAIT
The BAIT is also known as the hook. It's an intriguing beginning for your article. It can be a juicy fact, or an anecdote. Pick up six different magazines and look at the baits, the first couple of paragraphs, in each article in those six magazines. All the baits in the articles will be different.
Don't spend too long writing the bait for an article. I often write the bait after I've finished an article. When you're writing your seven articles for the next seven days -- and forever afterward -- don't be too enraptured or concerned with the bait paragraph or paragraphs. Your bait is important, but not so important that you stall over it, and never get around to writing the article.
The Explanation
This part of your article explains the article's subject, or thesis. If you're writing about a computer program, you can explain what the program does in a nutshell, or why the program is important. If you're writing a personality profile, the explanation tells the reader why he should read the profile.
Sometimes you won't need an explanation, it will be covered in the article's headline and the bait.
The Step (s)
The Steps are your argument. They can be individual anecdotes, or pieces of evidence. If you're writing about a computer program, the Steps could be various ways of using the program, or how to get started with the program. If you're writing a profile, the Steps could be your subject's career, his family life, the details of his run for office, or the details of how he won the tennis championship, what others say about him, and so on.
The Termination
The ending of the article.
In the case of the article about the computer program, it could be how many people have bought the program, when the next version will be available, or where you can buy it. In your personality profile, the ending could be a final quote from the subject.
A circular ending, when you manage to refer to the bait or the explanation in the ending, is satisfying, and is an easy way to wrap the article up without working too hard. Although the BAIT formula seems like a simple formula, it will release your creativity. It gives you a structure, which is always the hardest task in writing an article.
So go ahead. Write an article a day for the next seven days. This simple exercise will do amazing things for your freelance writing career.

*What You Should Know About Writing Articles
by: Raamakant S

Are you the one finding a golden key to your online success? Well I have the one and you can also use it to unlock your way. Articles are the right way to your online success without any hindrance.

Remember "Content is King" and you can be that king.

Many internet marketers really focus on the importance of writing an article. They emphasize that writing and submitting articles to different sites really proves fruitful for your online success. Articles give you the wings to fly high and rose up to the highest level.

They gave you a ray of light on the dark way to online business.

Human mind always search for relieving it's hunger mind. Yes mind that demands constant supply of knowledge boosters. So press the unlock button of your mind and start writing articles and submitting it too. Don't say that it's not your cup of coffee. Mull over these points and I'm sure you will make it your glass of champagne without waiting for a single second.

Benefits of writing articles:

1. Reciprocal Link: Most of article directories possess a high page rank and this point can really raise your site's PR also. When you submit an article on these directories, you get a one way linking to your site.

As I have already told you that human mind constantly need boosters and your article can relieve a hunger mind. It might be the case that a single individual read your content, find it informative and add your article on his own site. So your article gets a great exposure and you get a great one way linking.

2. High Qualified Traffic: Your article serves as a pre-selling tool for your real product. It is the hammer which works before a nail goes in the wall. We all possess distinct taste and we give our mind that only taste. What I meant to say that the person who will read your article must be interested in knowing more about it and your site paves a way to fulfill it's hunger-ness.

It means a constant highly qualified targeted traffic right to your door knocking to open it soon. This gives you an opportunity to show your product at their will.

3. Become an Expert: Every individual wants to acknowledge himself as an expert in his field. We want to stand apart from the crowd and article can really serves this purpose.

If once you become an expert in your field no-one will ever think once while buying your product. They have a reason to buy without thinking as they have test your knowledge many a times. They are curious to see your offers at their email address. Your position as an expert makes them rely on you.

But prior starting writing articles check out these points that you should do and avoid while writing articles.

Do's of article writing:

1. Keep your article length adequate i.e. not too long and not too short. It should be between 500-800 words.

2. Don't try to cover every sphere of the topic about which you are writing. Be specific about subject and bound your mind to that subject only.

3. Submit your articles to right category and subcategory.

Everything goes in a bin if you forget this point.

4. Attach a resource box to your article at the end with your site's listing in it. Don't try to put your site's address everywhere in the article.

5. Content must be informative and useful. Don't mould your article in a form of sales pitch.

6. People generally reads something if they find their problem's solution in it. So it's a good idea to start your article with their problems and ending with it's solution. Many people loves to read "How To" articles.

Don'ts of article writing:

1. Don't ever use Private Label Rights Articles to serve former purposes. Some articles directories ban the account submitting PLR articles and also many people have thousands of copies of it. So if a reader is not getting an original content then forget about changing him into your customers.

2. Just like an apple a day keeps the doctor away similarly a single article a day will keeps your traffic rolling. Don't write and submit 5-6 articles everyday. It will really end the curiosity of your reader and they will find it boring too.

In nutshell this is all about a golden key to your online success. You have to only find the right way to fit this key in a right lock which unlocks your way to online success.

Daily Job Tip:

Freelance Writing Success: Five Tips To Help You To Write Faster And Write More
by: Angela Booth

If you want to be a successful freelance writer today, you've got to write a lot. This is not only because the competition for freelancers is intense, but it's also because much of the writing that you do every day won't be writing that you can sell -- it's extra promotional writing that every writer needs to do.

Here's an unpleasant freelance writing truth: if you don't promote your work, you don't sell.

Therefore, you can look on your freelancing career as having two parts: creation, and promotion. You promotional writing includes building a name for yourself, by creating a Web site, or a blog, which gives you visibility. When an editor or publisher types your name into Google, he or she will be looking for some examples of your writing. Building this visibility takes time, however it's essential. No one is going to hire you if they have no idea of what you can do.

Here are five tips to help you to write faster and write more so you can achieve the freelance writing success that you want:

Tip 1. Plan your writing day

Whether you're writing "day" is a couple of hours you spend writing after you've put the kids to bed at night, or it's a real eight to ten hour day, you have to make the most of each minute.

On Sunday evening, take ten minutes to plan what you want to achieve in the coming week. Make a list of what you must do. However, you should have no more than five items on this list, because a lengthy "must do" list is intimidating and breeds procrastination. Your weekly list is not a catch-all list, it's highly selective. Keep your list small, so that no matter what happens, you know you can easily complete these items.

Then, before you begin writing for the day, make another, short list of items to do.

I like to create all my lists by hand, because it helps me focus, and there's something satisfying about striking an item off the list.

Tip 2. Have multiple projects in various stages of development

At any one time, I may have ten or a dozen projects in development. Half of these are client and editorial projects, the others are my own. The benefit of having multiple projects is that it helps to eliminate boredom. You'll have to decide for yourself whether this works for you: experiment.

I also have five or six promotional projects going on at the same time. The big benefit of all this work is that it keeps me writing -- I have to find ways to write more, because I need to write more. The key to achieving this level of activity is to make all your writing fun -- see Tip 5.

Tip 3. Use affirmations to kickstart your subconscious mind

Writing is a process of discovery. You can't know what you're going to write before you write it, and often what you write is a complete surprise. This is because you're mining your subconscious mind, which makes connections for you.

You can boost this natural process to help your subconscious mind to do its work by using affirmations. These are positive statements of what you want to achieve.

Tip 4. Eliminate perfectionism: it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be done

Perfectionism is a curse. If you want to write faster and write more, you'll have to take steps to remove your perfectionist tendencies. My favorite mantra is DDT: Do, Don't Think. Whatever you write can be edited and fixed. However, if you don't write, you have nothing to edit.

Tip 5. Make peace with your writing self

Your writing self is child-like. In essence, it's you, at around six to eight years of age, with experiences added. Your writing self loves fun, and it loves to play. This means that you've got to build plenty of fun and "play" activities into your writing, no matter how much you have to write, otherwise your creativity will dry up, and you'll get no writing done at all.

I've learned this from personal experience. I know that if I put too much pressure on my writing self, and insist that I focus only on serious projects, I'm headed for writer's block.

Make a list of fun activities. Mine include: doing crossword puzzles, playing computer games, reading historical novels, going to the movies, and many more. Then have fun!

DARK ENERGY SPECULATIVE FICTION
PAY: $20
Dark Energy Speculative Fiction is a market whose sole purpose is to award exposure to new and little-known talent. We pay a flat $20 fee for each story accepted, and it comes out of our own pockets. We know isn't a whole lot, but it's better than a poke in the eye. We are particularly fond of End Of The World type stories, and never see enough of them. Stories dealing with hard science, and also stories dealing with religion, are both of particular interest to us. We'd also like to see more experimental stories, and mainstream stories that have a strange angle to them.... like something's a bit off. Think Twilight Zone. Think Donnie Darko.

San Francisco Classical Voice
PAY: $75 - $150
Is looking to add new voices to its roster of classical music writers. In particular, we're looking for writers who can craft well-argued, provocative essays (about 1,000-2,000 words in length) about topics of interest to Bay Area classical music lovers. We're also interested in publishing interviews, profiles, thought pieces, reported trend pieces, best-of pieces, and occasional reviews of major books or CDs. The pay for features is $150. We pay $75 for reviews of classical music events in the San Francisco Bay Area, and these run anywhere from 600 to 1,200 words. We're particularly looking for writers who have a good knowledge of classical music, as well as experience with music criticism and journalism. If this describes you, please send a brief note explaining why you're right for SFCV, describing your musical specialties, and attaching some relevant writing clips to:

Freelance Articles Wanted
The Erickson Tribune (www.ericksontribune.com), the nation’s largest retirement newspaper with a circulation of over 3 million and a target audience of age 62-plus, is looking for articles that reflect the Trib’s masthead message of “Inform—Inspire—Involve.” Our Readers: Published by Erickson Retirement Communities, the Tribune is read by people who aspire to live better by taking full advantage of what life has to offer. We do not refer to our readers as “seniors” or “elderly.” They are vibrant, educated individuals who lead busy, productive lives. We try to give them articles that inform and inspire them. We do not view “aging” as a disease, rather, as another chapter in life complete with exciting possibilities. Subject Ideas: Our readers are middle income and interested in a broad range of topics. Stories dealing with leisure pursuits such as travel, music, food and cuisine, wine, coffee, scrapbooking, and gardening are always good possibilities, but we are open to other ideas that might appeal to our target audience as well. Sentimentality is not a road we travel as our audience is living in the here and now. Profiles of retirees doing interesting and amazing things are certainly welcome. We do not publish fiction. Stories about hi-tech, computers, finance, and fitness are also good, as our readers are looking for ways to keep their minds and bodies in shape. They tend to have dynamic relationships with their adult children and grandchildren, and stories relevant to those relationships are welcome. Strong, engaging profiles of individuals age 62-plus (both well-known and not so well known) are also welcome. “How to” articles, depending on the topic, are acceptable as well. Submission Guidelines:
• Completed articles only—NO QUERIES, PLEASE. All articles must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document.
• Word count: approximately 800 (should not be previously published or written for another publication)
• Please also be sure to put the title of the story in the subject line of the message.
• Please allow plenty of lead time for seasonal stories. (For example, if you have a Christmas related story, make sure you have pitched it by October)
• We reserve the right to edit for style, length, and clarity.
• If we use your story, we will pay $200 within 30 days of publication. You will also receive a byline on your story.
• We’ll send you three samples.
Submit your articles to editor@ericksonmail.com. Only e-mail submissions will be accepted.
