Writer must also have a deep concern for the natural world, as well as a commitment to use a large Membership and online citizen action network to help protect the environment. He or she must be excited about the chance to be an integral part of NRDC. Applicant must be able to take editorial direction, turn copy around quickly, and meet strict copy deadlines. It is expected that the work will take 6 to 10 hours a week initially. Freelance Product Graphic Design Artist(Event Network_San Diego, CA )From Monster

To further advance our custom product development strategies, we are seeking an energetic and creative freelance product graphic designer/artist who will be working directly with the Director of Product Development (DPD).

We expect this project to last approximately 3 months and take up to approximately 25 hours of billable time per week. Future project opportunities may apply.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Position will work closely with DPD, General Merchandise Managers, Buyers, Vendors, and Venue Partners to design and develop art for specific products from concept to production.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with DPD to understand the unique requirements of each of our retail locations.
Visit partner stores and/or web sites to better understand their product and merchandising strategies and Logo requirements.
Based on input from DPD and Buyers, draw/sketch and/or use vendor supplied templates to create product concepts.
Work with the DPD and vendors to transform concept sketches into prototypes using sketches and/or vendor supplied templates.
Prepare all information needed for merchandise manufacturing on digital files.
Develop and maintain photo/art/logos/images, and project file libraries
Special Projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
BS/BA/BFA in Graphic Design and formal training in retail product graphic design
Minimum 3+ years of relevant (retail product related) professional experience
Experience and understanding of typography, logo use and standards, photo direction and color printing processes
Ability to draw/sketch/illustrate for design and prototypes and meet deadline and budget requirements
Ability to design packaging and product from concept to final production, including obtaining all required approvals needed from retail partner.
Experience in working with overseas factories helpful
Ability to prepare artwork for sample and production, template layout, color standards, and specs.
Ability to prepare electronic files accurately for appropriate manufacturing processes in accordance to vendor applications.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines on multiple projects in a fast pace environment
Excellent attention and dedication to detail in all aspects of the job
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
